Ways Into Work with Wilson and Scott
In their ongoing desire to support local communities, Wilson and Scott (Highways) Ltd have recently partnered up with Ways Into Work, a Berkshire-based organisation committed to providing support for disadvantaged individuals to help them find their way back in to the workplace.
At the beginning of 2016, a joint event was hosted by Ways Into Work, ElevateMe Slough and Wilson and Scott to introduce the Highways Line Marking industry to the local community with a view to exposing possible career opportunities within this sector.
The event proved successful in highlighting the Line Marking industry as a positive career path that was worth consideration by many of the attendees; in particular to a few young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds.
It was with these candidates that Ways Into Work and Wilson and Scott worked together to provide the platform for a real chance to interview for a position with the Line Marking company. And it was as a result of that process that Wilson and Scott were able to create the chance to take on a young adult called Billy Taylor as a Trainee, with the opportunity for full time employment as an Apprentice on successful completion of his probationary period.
Details of his progress throughout the selection process can be accessed below as it is an interesting insight into how these organisations have worked together to give real opportunities to young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Wilson and Scott are proud to be associated with this work and will continue their support to give young people further hope of finding the best pathways into the workplace.
UPDATE: Liam O’Dowd, Contracts Manager for Wilson and Scott adds, ‘Billy has just successfully completed his CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) CITB Health Safety and Environment test and is now fully certified to work on our main contractor sites’.
